Description
Three strands of Momi shells are worked in the Pikake style through this Ni’ihau shell lei, their Lenalena color running soft off-white with golden stripes and dotted tips scattered along the strands. The rows join at a bumpy Apu’upu’u cowrie of approximately 21 by 31 millimeters. Worn, the lei measures about 36 inches in length. This lei was strung entirely by hand in Hawaii from shells gathered on Ni’ihau.
This item was made in Hawaii, and is at least 80% Niihau shell. The actual percentage of Niihau shell in this item is 100%.
