Description
This three-strand Ni’ihau shell lei is strung in the Pikake style from small Momi dove shells in the soft yellow-white shade known as Lenalena, the strands worked full and even along their entire run. A bumpy Apu’upu’u cowrie shell, approximately 17 by 25 millimeters, joins the three strands at the closure. The lei runs about 36 inches in length and hangs as a 19-inch drop when worn. This lei was strung entirely by hand in Hawaii from shells gathered on Ni’ihau.
This item was made in Hawaii, and is at least 80% Niihau shell. The actual percentage of Niihau shell in this item is 100%.
