Description
Each strand of this three-strand Ni’ihau shell lei carries its own color, pale yellow lenalena, blue-gray uli uli, and dark-spotted onikiniki momi shells twisted side by side in the pikake spiral across approximately 38 inches in length. A bumpy apu’upu’u cowrie shell joins the strands at the closure, close to 27mm by 18mm in size. Holding each strand to one color means sorting shell by shell before stringing, and this lei does it three times over.
