Description
A ten-strand Ni’ihau shell lei of momi dove shells in tan Onikiniki coloring, cream shells speckled in caramel brown, strung end to end in the pololei style so every strand runs straight and even. The ten strands join through a single smooth golden elelu cowrie, approximately 28mm by 14mm, set at the center of the lei. At about 48 inches the strands fall long against the chest and layer one over the next. Across ten strands at this length the shell count runs into the thousands, every shell gathered by hand on Ni’ihau’s beaches and sorted for size and color before stringing.
This item was made in Hawaii, and is at least 80% Niihau shell. The actual percentage of Niihau shell in this item is 100%.
