Description
Ten strands of cream Momi shells are strung end to end in the Pololei style for this Ni’ihau shell lei, running straight and even through the full length. The lei measures close to 48 inches in length and wears at a 24 inch drop. The strands gather at a bumpy Apu’upu’u cowrie of about 26 by 19 millimeters. This lei was strung entirely by hand in Hawaii from shells gathered on Ni’ihau. It puts four feet of shellwork into a single lei.
This item was made in Hawaii, and is at least 80% Niihau shell. The actual percentage of Niihau shell in this item is 100%.
