Description
Kipona-style stringing sets the pattern on this three-strand Ni’ihau shell lei, alternating runs of white Momi shells with Kahelelani in rose pink, red, gold, and green across approximately 39 inches of length. The strands join at a Poleholeho closure in the apu’upu’u cowrie variety, about 20 by 27mm, and the lei hangs with a drop of close to 19.5 inches when worn. This lei was strung entirely by hand in Hawaii from shells gathered on Ni’ihau.
This item was made in Hawaii, and is at least 80% Niihau shell. The actual percentage of Niihau shell in this item is 100%.
