Description
Three strands deep, this Ni’ihau shell lei is strung pikake style from Momi dove shells in the lenalena waha ‘ele’ele coloring, a soft yellow-white shell tipped in dark brown. A smooth Malina cowrie of about 16 by 27 millimeters gathers the strands into a single clasp. The lei measures approximately 48 inches in length, falling to a 24-inch drop when worn. This lei was strung entirely by hand in Hawaii from shells gathered on Ni’ihau.
This item was made in Hawaii, and is at least 80% Niihau shell. The actual percentage of Niihau shell in this item is 100%.
