Description
Three strands of petite white momi shells make up this Ni’ihau shell lei, each strand strung in the pikake style into a cord-tight spiral. The ke’oke’o white shells show faint natural flecking at the tips, and the strands run approximately 36 inches in length, falling in layered loops well below the collarbone. A poleholeho cowrie connector finishes the strand ends, and a ribbed cowrie shell closes the lei. This lei was strung entirely by hand in Hawaii from shells gathered on Ni’ihau.
