A Steven Kretchmer engagement ring and wedding band set in platinum, size 4.25. The engagement ring carries its round diamond in Kretchmer’s open tension mount, the stone held between the polished ends of a slim band with light passing clear beneath it, and the wedding band answers with small round diamonds flush-set into the metal, carrying a 1990 copyright mark inside. Kretchmer patented the heat-treated alloys that let a band grip a diamond by spring pressure alone, and no new Kretchmer pieces will ever be made.
