Mikimoto signed this 14K yellow gold set, a flower brooch and matching cluster earrings with white cultured pearls in a soft pinkish rose overtone. The brooch gathers its pearls in a semi-circle amid open ribbons and leaves of polished gold, closing with a hinged pin back. The earrings carry the same cluster design on gold screw backs, their pearls running approximately 4.2 to 5.5 millimeters in diameter, and the two-piece set weighs close to 15.2 grams. The signature reads Mikimoto Tokyo. Mikimoto created the world’s first cultured pearl, and a Mikimoto signature on pearl jewelry has meant carefully selected, well-matched pearls ever since.
