Description
Strung in the pikake weave that clusters its shells into a dense, even rope, this three-strand Ni’ihau shell lei is made of Momi dove shells in the lenalena coloring, an off-white with red-dotted ends. The strands run approximately 36 inches in length, gathered at a bumpy Apu’upu’u Poleholeho cowrie of 27 by 20 millimeters. It goes on over the head and falls to the chest in three ropes of Ni’ihau shell.
This item was made in Hawaii, and is at least 80% Niihau shell. The actual percentage of Niihau shell in this item is 100%.
