Description

A set of three Qing era hair pins carved from mutton fat nephrite jade, each with a rounded, lobed head worked in low floral-scroll relief above a long, gently curved shank that widens toward its tip. The stone runs near white with the soft, waxy translucence characteristic of nephrite, the largest pin measuring approximately 5.25 inches in length and the three together weighing about 59.5 grams. The set comes from a known Hawaii-based antique collector, held in private hands since 1930 and shown now for the first time.
