Description
A carved nephrite jade cicada forms the whole face of this pendant necklace, the pale green stone semi-translucent and worked with pierced openwork on both sides. The panel measures approximately 63.8 by 44.4mm, and the 18K yellow gold chain, stamped 750, threads directly through holes in the sides of the stone so the jade hangs without a bail. The chain runs about 16 inches in length and closes with a box-and-tongue clasp. In Chinese carving the cicada has long stood for rebirth and long life, and the necklace comes with its gemologist appraisal.
