Description
Lavender jade, shot through with drifts of spring green, forms this large carved pendant plaque. The stone is cut thin in a leaf shape with a scalloped outline, and its face carries a low-relief carving of what appears to be lotus blossoms and water plants, with a dragonfly and a butterfly worked in near the top. The green tends to gather in the raised lines of the carving, so the design reads in color as well as in line. Two holes pierced at the upper corners let the plaque hang from a cord. It spans approximately 99 by 86 millimeters across the face and 4.8mm in thickness, and weighs close to 100.4 grams.
