Description
Three strands of momi dove shells make up this Ni’ihau lei, their warm lenalena off-white deepening to gold in places along the length. The strands are hand-strung in the interlaced pikake style, each row locking into the next, and they join at a poleholeho of the apu’upu’u cowrie variety, matched in color to the shells and measuring approximately 15 x 21mm. The lei measures about 38 inches around and hangs to a 19 inch drop when worn. This lei was strung entirely by hand in Hawaii from shells gathered on Ni’ihau.
This item was made in Hawaii, and is at least 80% Niihau shell. The actual percentage of Niihau shell in this item is 100%.
